Built a JHS Andy Timmons pedal clone (madbeanpedals mod)
* Finished a JHS Andy Timmons pedal clone(madbean pedals modded) . THE best od-distortion pedal so far,in such a small format if u ask me
Cool wires! How do you like the sound? I'm debating over building a Suhr Riot or this "Andy Timmons" pedal. I read that this layout isn't an exact clone of the AT, rather a best guess by madbean. Anyway, haven't found any sound demos of this build online, so that would be rad! Great builds, man! Keep them coming!
Hey! Funny that you ask! I actually was debating as in whether to build this as a good overdrive/distortion pedal or recommend the Suhr Riot haha!! I honestly recommend this one! Really nice and tweakable, with loads of gain for everything, it sounds more amp like, the Suhr Riot is more ...boxed is somehow. I will make some samples today with it! Will post them here with a yellow bold hyperlink ;)
I can't even get all the tones in one short sample, from gritty high gain, to tight high gain, to 80s stuff, to full blown driven stack sound, a really nice pallette of tone from this one
Hi, I am planning to build this pedal. I am new into pedal build, and this would be my first DIY pedal. Do you think I can use film caps instead of the 2 ceramic 100pf caps? Thanks.

Absolutely no problem, in fact, the film caps would even be less prone to noise, and even sound better in some instances! Go for it :)

ReplyDeleteC is reverse log. A specific pot taper, but I think I used something else (don't recall ever owning C type pots, at least not 10K ones)
